International exchange brings Russian educators to Alaska.

In August, Wild Salmon Center brought six conservation education leaders from the Russian Far East to Alaska for a seven-day international conservation education exchange. Russian colleagues met with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Trailside Discovery Camp, Campbell Creek Science Center, Alaska Geographic, US Forest Service (which helped organize the exchange) and other leading conservation and environmental education NGOs. The team traveled to the Kenai Peninsula with its state-of-the-art visitors center, and learned hands-on from rangers, fisheries biologists, and educators.

Equipped with new methods, knowledge, and examples of success, the delegates return to Russia to inspire a life-long appreciation for the natural world among local communities and youth groups.
