Wild Salmon Center Supports Endangered Species Recovery ActNews & Program Updates
March, 2007
The Wild Salmon Center supports innovative and incentive-based approaches to salmon conservation. We are therefore supporting Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) in his effort to reinvigorate imperiled species recovery by providing financial incentives to deserving landowners. The Endangered Species Recovery Act (Senate Bill 700), introduced by Senator Crapo and supported by 16 of his Senate colleagues, will give private landowners the resources they need to carry out voluntary habitat improvements on their land, or to help them transition to land management practices that support salmon conservation. This legislation would support the Wild Salmon Center's goals by making a powerful economic incentive for salmon conservation available to private landowners.
