Further study urged on virus found in Pacific salmon

Senators Cantwell, Murkowski, and Begich introduced an amendment to a Senate spending package to investigate a deadly salmon virus and to safeguard the Pacific Northwest and Alaska's wild salmon ecosystems and economies.

This disease, Infectious Salmon Anemia (ISA), is a lethal threat to wild salmon populations throughout the North Pacific and underscores the severe ecological risks associated with cultured fish rearing including fish farming and certain hatchery practices.
