Pebble Mine Is Alive: What Comes Next

Pebble Mine Is Alive: What Comes Next

Your chance to comment on the EPA’s deal with Northern Dynasty is coming soon.

Last month, the Trump Administration’s EPA cut a deal with mining company Northern Dynasty to roll back Clean Water Act protections for Bristol Bay. That will ease the way for the development of Northern Dynasty’s Pebble Mine in Bristol’s headwaters. Many supporters are wondering what they can do now.

According to our legal partners, EPA will need to open at least a short comment period within sixty days of the May 12 decision. That means they could open a short comment period starting over the July 4th break and right in the middle of peak Bristol Bay salmon season.

Regardless, we will find a way to tell the EPA loud and clear that developing a mega-mine in the headwaters of one of the world’s greatest salmon strongholds is a terrible idea.

Get ready to fire off a comment to EPA during the official comment period opening soon. Watch your email for a Wild Salmon Center alert and respond immediately.

Thanks for rallying to protect Bristol Bay.
